Railway Innovation Workshop in Niš
Workshop dedicated to railway innovations was held in the premises of Science-Technology Park Niš, organized by Transport Community and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of Niš, as a part of Smart2 project financed through the Shift2Rail joint undertaking.
Participants – the directors of national railway companies of six countries from the region and a large number of railway experts, representatives of the academia, supplier companies and railway operators – had an opportunity to see the presentations of advanced technologies in this field – digital automated coupling and advanced obstacle detection systems.
Representatives of national railways agreed that these technologies are highly interesting and needed for the railways. On the other hand, they reminded of the lack of funds in the regional railways, and that their full implementation would require significant finances that national railways will not be able to secure from own sources.
