Serbia Train to Procure 18 Trains from Stadler Poland
European Bank for Renewal and Development (EBRD) announced that Serbia Train, Serbian national passenger transport railway operator will procure at least 18 electromotor trains from Stadler Polska company, for use in regional traffic. Contract was awarded to Stadler on December 27, as the best bidder on tender published in February 2020. Value of procurement is 112,32 mil EUR, and is financed by the EBRD loan.
Trains are intended for regional transport of passenger, and, beside Stadler, bids were submitted by STS trains consortia (Hitachi) and Alstom Transport.
EBRD expects that this improvement of Serbia Train services will contribute to an increase in passengers using railway transport and long-term reduction of greenhouse gasses.
