New railway Sobovica-Lužnice construction by the end of the year – preparations for planning begin in Kragujevac
Construction of new railway line Sobovica-Lužnice-Batočina in Kragujevac was declared a project of special importance for Serbia by the conclusion of the Serbian Government. In order to follow the legal procedures and begin the construction in the planned timeframe, a meeting was held in Kragujevac with all public authorities to be included in this process, which was announced on the city’s website. Exact worth of this investment will be known after the first plan is made together with the stud, and the construction is predicted to start by the end of 2021.
– The preparations began on planning for the new railway line and test line – said Aleksandar Milošević, assistant to the mayor for realization of capital projects and cooperation with the Government of Serbia.
New railway and test line will be owned by the state and used by the public company Serbian Railways Infrastructure, said Milošević, aiming to reduce the costs of transport of materials, goods and finished products, namely trams out of Siemens facility, to Europe.
Acting Director of public company Urbanism Kragujevac, Vesna Jovanović, presented the plan of detailed regulation of Sobovica-Lužnice-Batočina line and stated that it represents an important corridor for realization and development of industrial zones, not only of MIND park, but the entirety of the city of Kragujevac, and is the basis for possible new industrial zones.
Length of the new railway line MIND Park-Sobovica-Cvetojevac will be approximately 13.7 km, and the test line will be 1.7 km. Aside from freight, it will also be used for passenger transport, and the construction of three stops is planned.
