South East Europe / UK Virtual Rail Summit announced for May
The Rail Cluster for South East Europe (RCSEE) and the Rail Alliance today (Thursday 25 February 2021) announce that they will be hosting a South East Europe / United Kingdom Virtual Rail Summit on Tuesday 18 May 2021.
The one-day online conference will include a number of high-profile speakers and cover a range of topics including project opportunities for rail supply businesses and plans for reciprocal trade missions in Autumn 2021, as well as the SEE Mobility Fair 2021 which will be held in Belgrade in September. Delegates will be able to find out more about a number of significant rail projects being planned across the SEE region and how companies can get involved.
The South East Europe Rail Research and Innovation Network (SEERRIN) will be presenting on current developments and plans for growth across the region. SEERRIN was founded in 2020 by the Rail Cluster for South East Europe and the Universities of Belgrade, Zagreb and Birmingham – it has rapidly grown its membership to include universities and rail industry organisations from across the South East Europe region.
The Summit is being jointly organised by the Rail Cluster for South East Europe and the Rail Alliance and is supported by the UK Department for International Trade, the British-Serbian Chamber of Commerce, the South East Europe Rail Research and Innovation Network and the University of Birmingham.
Co-hosts, Dragoljub Rajic (RCSEE) and Alex Burrows (Rail Alliance), said
“We are delighted to be jointly organising this unique event bringing together our countries and our rail industries. Our partnership has been in place for more than two years now and is going from strength to strength. We have been collaborating on a number of exciting projects of which this Rail Summit is another part.
We are looking forward to talking about the opportunities for our rail supply industry partners and colleagues at this event as well as the plans for the next SEE Mobility Fair in September in Belgrade.”
Richard Robinson, Executive Director of the British Serbian Chamber of Commerce (BSCC), said
“The BSCC is delighted to support the South East Europe/UK Virtual Rail Summit. The Western Balkans including Serbia is undertaking significant investment in rail infrastructure over the next few years and UK participation is welcomed. The Chamber is working hard to promote UK interest in the sector, supporting members to take advantage of the opportunities that arise.”
Bojana Arsic, director of the Department for International Trade of the UK Embassy in Serbia said:
“The Virtual Rail Summit will bring together an impressive array of rail sector stakeholders from industry, academia, and government. Department for International Trade is proud to support this initiative in the hope of further strengthening the relationship between the UK and the SEE region. We trust that this will be the first of many opportunities where the UK can showcase its rail sector capabilities in support of regional development plans and private sector partnerships.”
