First SEERRIN Online Conference
The first online meeting of Southeast Europe Railway Research and Innovation Network (SEERRIN) was organized today. The network was formed in January 2020 by Railway Cluster for Southeast Europe, Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences from Zagreb, Faculty of Transport and Traffic Engineering from Belgrade and the University of Birmingham/Birmingham Centre for Railway Research and Education/Rail Alliance from the United Kingdom.
Conference, which gathered representatives of the railway industry and leading faculties from the railway sector in the region was held with the attendance of the representatives of universities, faculties and industry from Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, United Kingdom, Germany and Austria. The meeting was also attended by the representatives of the United Kingdom embassies in Serbia and Croatia, British-Serbian and British-Croatian Chambers of Commerce, as well as the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Serbia.
Alexander Burrows, Director of BCRRE/Rail Alliance presented the experienced of UK’s Rail Research and Innovation Network (UKRRIN) as a good model to establish and develop a similar network in the SEE region, and invited the companies and faculties to join SEERRIN and start planning joint activities and projects.
Participants agreed to organize another meeting before the end of the year to plan the program of SEERRIN activities in 2021, focusing on networking of companies and faculties from SEE region and UK through organized trade mission to UK and Railtex fair, held from 10th to 14th of May in Birmingham, and the SEE Mobility 2021 on 8th and 9th of September in Belgrade.
