Government of Serbia Supports the Founding of Centre for Railway Research
Vice-president of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Prof Zorana Mihajlović, PhD, signed a Letter of Interest supporting the project of creating a Southeast Europe Railway Research and Innovation Centre – SEERRIC.
The centre is a joint project of RCSEE and Birmingham Centre for Railway Research and Education (BCRRE), at the University of Birmingham, and it is a continuation of the activities of Southeast Europe Railway Research and Innovation Network (SEERRIN), partner project of RCSEE and leading regional faculties for the railway sector. Work of this centre is of strategic importance for the railway sector in the region, and will raise the knowledge level of new generation of experts necessary for the development and maintenance of modern railway systems. In addition, through cooperation with partners from the UK, centre will help export oriented railway supplier companies to place their solutions in a global market, network them with other innovative companies, and assist the development of innovations and financing of innovative projects.
By signing the Letter of Interest, Ministry stated a firm belief in the existence of significant necessity for partnership that will bring together railway companies, supplier industry, universities and institutions, and expressed a readiness to closely cooperate with all actors in SEERRIN in order to improve the level of knowledge, technologies and faster renewal of the industry in nine countries of Southeast Europe.
