Ministry of Infrastructure Meets Representatives of DFC and EXIM Bank
Ministry of construction, transport and infrastrtucture formed a special team that will work on projects with US International Development Finance Coorporation (DFC). This is a conclusion of the first meeting with representatives of DFC and EXIM bank, held at Klub Poslanika in Belgrade.
It is expected that these institutions be involved in new development projects – connecting of the cities of Niš and Priština by highway and railway Niš-Merdare-Priština, however, Minister Zorana Mihajlović announces work on other regional projects as well.
She stated that the Ministry will continue preparing project documentation in order for the realization to start as soon as possible. „We wish for a fast realization of the projects and the results to show to the population“ said Mihajlović.
The meeting was attended by the representatives of Koridori Srbije, Roads of Serbia and Serbian Railways, and the talks were predominantly concerned with how to improve infrastructure, as well as the projects agreed upon by the presidents of USA and Serbia, which will network the region.
US Ambassador in Serbia Anthony F. Godfrey expressed his satisfaction to attend the meetings of Serbian officials with DFC and EXIM bank, and stated that the Ministry of construction approached the meeting professionally and showed readiness to work and the vision of connecting Serbia to the region. “We are ready to work with the Ministry of Construction and Koridori Srbije, in order to have results that would improve living standard of all the people in the region” concluded Godfrey.
DFC and EXIM have recently signed Letters of Interest with Belgrade and Priština for assistance in fiancing importand projects identified by the signed in Washington D.C. on 4th of September.
