Works Begin on Belgrade-Budapest Railway
Works on modernization of Belgrade-Budapest railway, on Belgrade Center – Stara Pazova section, were ceremoniously opened on Tuesday, November 28 in Zemun railway station.
Ceremony was attended by the Prime Minister of Government of Serbia, Ana Brnabić, Minister of construction, transport and infrastructure Zorana Mihajlović and acting Director General of Serbian Railways Infrastructure Miroljub Jevtić. Also present were the representatives of the contractors, Vice President and chief engineer of „China Communications Construction Company“ Sun Ziyu, Chairman of China Railway International Company Yang Zhongmin, Deputy Director of the National Development and Reform Commission of China Wang Xiaotao and the Ambassador of People’s Republic of China, Li Manchang.
Belgrade Center – Stara Pazova section was projected by CIP Traffic Institute. Length of the section is 34.5 kilometers and the deadline for construction is 36 months. Director of Serbian Railways Infrastructure, Miroljub Jevtić stated that the railways on certain sections will have four tracks, will be constructed with no level crossings and will fulfill all European standards.
Works on this section will be conducted by China Railway International and China Communications Construction Company, and the contract value is 350.1 million USD.
