Agreement Confirmed Between Serbia and UN on Intensifying the Trans-European Railway Project
Government of the Republic of Serbia has agreed on cooperating with the UN, represented by the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), and enabling the work of Trans-European Railway Project Central Office (TER PCO) in Belgrade.
This agreement creates a framework for TER PCO activities in Belgrade, in accordance with the objectives, recommendations and guidelines listed in the TER agreement. TER PCO will conduct the main activities of the TER management board, while UNCE, as an executive agency, will provide guidelines in accordance to the TER agreement.
Leading partners of the TER PCO in Serbia will be the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while on the UN side, TER PCO will be represented by the UNECE.
For the purpose of this cooperation between foreign partners and Serbian organizations, TER PCO will have access to appropriate infrastructure in Serbia. For the duration of this Agreement, TER PCO offices will be located in Belgrade.
The signatories to the Agreement are Zorana Mihajlović, Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Serbia and Christian Friis Bach, Executive Secretary of the UN Economic Commission for Europe.
Railway Cluster for South-Eastern Europe (RCSEE) welcomes the decision on the implementation of this agreement and expects the Serbian side to support TER PCO in Belgrade in engagement of experts in the area with the necessary experience, considering that the Serbian side committed to funding the future office and its personnel.
